Savannah’s nominator writes “Savannah Grace is a soon to be 2 year old who was diagnosed with “Cat’s Cry” or cri-du-chat syndrome at birth. Doctors told Savannah’s mother and father that Savannah would not be able to walk, talk, or even feed herself and would need constant care. Savannah has proven every single doctor wrong already in her short life beginning with her ability to sit unassisted at only a year old, to speaking her first words, and being “this close” to walking already. Her mother has sacrificed her nursing career, after graduating with a nursing degree while pregnant with Savannah, to care for Savannah and help her achieve so many goals those first doctors told her she could not reach. Savannah has earned her nickname “Grace Face” by facing her challenges with not only extreme determination but also with joy and enthusiasm. At only 2 years, she has already accomplished what many never do; she has learned to challenge what life has given her and pushed for more. She is truly an inspiration. She and her mother have worked so hard, they both deserve this amazing reward. To see your only daughter pampered and dressed up is something most parents take for granted but would be a dream for her mother.”
Heather says “It’s pretty easy to see how wonderful this girl is without really even meeting her, but in real life she’s even more amazing. I know why she’s got every one of her doctors wrapped around her fingers. She just lights up every space she comes into. I really loved meeting this kid and connecting with her mom, and I look forward to her calling and telling me she’s RUNNING!”
