Pregnancy is a season full of changes. Your body shifts, your emotions stretch, and your whole world starts to make room for someone new. It’s easy to get caught up in preparing for what’s ahead and forget to slow down and capture what’s happening right now. As an Athens, GA maternity photographer, I believe maternity portraits are more than just lovely pictures. They’re a way to honor this time and give it the attention it deserves.
This isn’t just about showing your baby bump. It’s about recognizing how strong and beautiful you are, and documenting the transformation you’re going through physically, emotionally, and mentally.

A Pause in the Middle of All the Change
Maternity sessions offer a quiet moment in a very busy time. It’s a chance to stop, breathe, and focus on yourself for a little while. You’re doing something amazing, and you deserve to feel seen and celebrated. A lot of the moms I work with tell me they didn’t expect to feel so confident and calm during their session. Seeing themselves in that light helped them embrace their changing bodies in a whole new way.
Every Pregnancy Story is Different
No two pregnancies feel the same, and your photos should reflect what’s special about yours. We’ll capture all the little gestures: your hands on your belly, the peaceful expressions, the glances between you and your partner. These photos tell the story of your connection with your baby before you’ve even met.
If you have a partner or older kids, we can include them too. These sessions are a great way to mark how your family is growing and to show the love that’s already there.

When Should You Book?
The best time for maternity photos is usually between 28 and 36 weeks. Your bump is nicely rounded at that point, and most people are still feeling comfortable enough to enjoy the session. I suggest booking during your second trimester to make sure I have a spot available. If your timeline is a little different, we can work with it.
These Photos Last Long After the Pregnancy
Someday, your child will look at these images and see how loved they were before they even arrived. These portraits often become part of a family’s history. Maternity photos give you something to hold onto from a time that can feel like it goes by too fast.
