Saylor was nominated 8 times! Her mommy writes: Saylor was born at 39 weeks breach c section and went straight to the piedmont Athens regional nicu thinking she had a coarctation of her heart it was proved wrong she had something else. After a few days of waiting on genetic testing it shown she has a rare genetic disorder called mosaic trisomy 9 she spent almost 4 weeks in the nicu in athens with a ng feeding tube and on oxygen. We then decided to have her transfered to children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. We then found out her hips are displaced and will need surgery before she starts walking. She will also need a surgery to get a gastro tube in her stomach instead of the ng tube. She struggles to gain weight and cannot take anything by mouth. Her disorder is so rare doctors dont know how to expect this to affect her we just have to see how she grows. She done a sleep study and discovered she has severe sleep apnea. She has low muscle tone. She is a magical sweet baby girl who is me and her daddies whole world. This is an amazing thing your doing and it would be so awesome if she got the chance to do this she is 2 months old and full of life.
Heather’s thoughts: Saylor gave me a few smiles during her fairy photo session. I initially thought she’d be about the size of a bigger newborn but nah she showed up at 15lbs with thigh rolls and butter cheeks! She’s on oxygen and a feeding tube so we had tubes to manage but she was just awake and watching the leaves blow in the breeze. I can tell she’s quite a fighter and she wants very much to be here. Baby girl is going to go far.
