Lucy’s nominator writes “Lucy is a butterfly princess in a six year old body. She is sparkly, whip smart, and hilarious. Lucy has cycstic fibrosis, which means it takes extra care and meds to keep her healthy, but that doesn’t slow her down much! She’s an older sister to Emma, and an excellent role model. I can’t think of a better candidate for a magical photoshoot!”
Heather’s thoughts: Lucy is a hilarious bright shining little ball of fluff that happens to be stuck in a human body. I’m pretty sure she’s actually a fairy. Bouncing along at the speed of light, she brings everyone around her into her orbit. Her sis was a hot toddler wreck that day but Lucy insisted on bringing her, which tells you about what kind of sister she is.
Lucy’s mother has a few questions for me before we booked to make sure that I wasn’t putting Lucy at risk. Cystic fibrosis is actually a diagnosis that I’ve not had here before, so I had to do do some research. The first thing she asked me was about my dresses and sanitizing process. Apparently CF people cannot be around other CF people due to the high risk of cross-infection with dangerous bacteria and fungi that are usually harmless to healthy people but devastating to CF lungs, as CF causes thick mucus that traps these germs, making infections hard to clear. So mom had to make sure that I and my dresses were clear of scary things that could be transmitted to Lucy.
