Lily’s nominator writes: I don’t Know if lily qualifies exactly, but i know my heart tells me she is deserving. Lily is 9 or 10 and I’ve known her since she was about 5. I don’t exactly know Lily’s diagnoses, but I know she has had real struggles for as long as I’ve known her. As far as I know she is physically healthy, but she has had significant emotional and behavioral challenges. This has led to her saying some really TERRIBLE things about herself at a very young age, which has broken the hearts of all who love her. She has been dismissed from school and camp programs, and really struggles to maintain friendships. On top of that, her parents divorced a couple years ago and her dad has relinquished most of his custody of her, largely due to her challenges. The Other side of Lily makes her one of the coolest kids Ive ever known. She is extremely intelligent, and a talented artist even at such a young age. She is a girly girl and is interested in fantasy genre type things (she LOVES zelda and greek mythology) so I think a photo session like yours would be a dream come true.
Heather’s thoughts: Lily is SO incredible. I think if I were her mom I’d lose my mind in the best way possible. Probably one of the smartest kids I’ve ever met, sweet without giving empty compliments, and so incredibly funny. She finished the photo session by telling me that you are the most kind, most fabulous photographer I have ever met. You are a good person! And then she opened the car door again to shout “I expect to talk often, bestie!” Y’all, she’s NINE. If I had half the confidence of her at that age I feel like I could have ruled to world. I love her to pieces. She picked all of her own poses through this session and zero awkwardness.
